Who Are We?

Building the Future, Restoring the Past

MOARK Construction got their start in May of 2023, owned by brothers, Ryan and Derik Hicks. Despite the age of the company, the owners and employees have a combined 75 years of experience. Ryan began working in construction at the young age of 15, mostly working with his father and family friends. Derik then joined the crew at the age of 14. Once both boys graduated high school, they began working full-time with their father, Ed Rudolph – owner and operator of Rudolph Construction. During this time, they sought to learn as much as possible from Ed, who has been in construction since 1990. Rudolph Construction was a thriving company until the housing market collapse of 2008. After the collapse, the three of them went their separate ways, desperate for work.

In 2016, Ed stumbled across a job opportunity with Mooney Construction. During that phone call, Ed landed all three of them a job. Little did Ryan and Derik know that this job opportunity would be life changing. Mooney Construction was a successful construction company for 25 years. After working for Mr. Mooney for several years, he made a proposition to Ryan and Derik. He said, “If you continue to work for me until I’m ready to retire, I will leave you the company.” Of course, the boys agreed to the idea and began trying to learn as much information about running a company before Mr. Mooney retired.

May 2023 rolled around, and it was time for Ryan and Derik to take over the company. Though they did not feel fully ready, it was time. Mr. Mooney held up his end of the deal, leaving his customers and contacts in the care of MOARK. Ryan and Derik had a tough first few months, but they were both determined to be successful. Ed now works for his sons, Ryan and Derik, contributing to the dynamic duo known as MOARK Construction.
